When President Richard Nixon came into office he introduced a new strategy called Vietnamization. It was created to end the involvement of the Americans in the Vietnam War by passing the military responsibilities to South Vietnam. The increasing of the war was brings American society down. Vietnamization involved building up South Vietnam's military forces to make it easier for Americans troops to withdraw. President Nixon thought that his Vietnamization strategy would help South Vietnam to take the responsibility of defending themselves from the Communist taking over. By doing this American troops could be removed and the U.S. could still leave with their honor. In 1973, the U.S. made an agreement with North Vietnam, took American troops out of South Vietnam, and announced the completion of the Vietnamization strategy. But in 1975, South Vietnam fell to the forces of the Communist.
